When a person has three bowel movements or fewer in a week, he experiences constipation. When constipation occurs, the stool is hard and dry and sometimes painful to pass. Avoid from having constipation: eat more fiber; drink plenty of water, fruit juices and soups; get enough exercise; allow yourself enough time to have a bowel movement; use laxatives (only if a doctor says you should); and check with your doctor about any medicines you take.
