The symptoms of heat stroke includes: confusion, headaches, muscle cramps, nausea, vomiting, fainting and dizziness. The victim of heat stroke may act drunk. Get immediate medical help when these symptoms appear. What happens is that most problems may result from dehydration as the body is trying to sweat the heat away. Sweating excessively can lead to loss of salt which can damage the cells and the organs. Because of the loss of fluids blood pressure drops and the heart and respiration rates increase. Blood vessels near the skin dilate in an attempt to shed heat, depriving internal organs of blood and oxygen. Young children may go into convulsions. Internal organs may fail to function and the result may be unconsciousness and coma. Heart failure is what the most victims die of, and what can also cause death is the collapse of other organs.
