Melissa Kollen-Rice’s book “Buying Real Estate Foreclosures, Revised and Expanded” goes some way towards explaining the basics of how the foreclosure process works, how to go about buying foreclosure properties, and how it is possible to make a profit from these situations.

But readers should be cautious. The author is a New York resident who understands New York foreclosure procedures. She often refers to using attorneys to check titles. 30-day closings, and minimal 10 percent foreclosure auction deposit bids. However, this is not the foreclosure procedure in most states.
