No one expects that any business is IN business to loose money - so when you offer your merchandise on a ‘discount’ there is no reason to take a financial beating. What you must do at the beginning is price your heat pumps (or any other merchandise) high enough, so that later on, if you want to offer a ‘discounted’ price, you will be able to lower it somewhat without suffering a net loss. The number one mistake that most business owners make is not offering too deep a discount, but in setting a base (normal, everyday) price that is too low.
